Baznīca celta 1795.gadā ar Menģeles muižas īpašnieku Šēnfogelu atbalstu. Gadsimtu gaitā tā nav būtiski mainījusies. Baznīcas pamatapjoms – mūra, bet barokālais tornis – koka. 1833.-34.g. celtne remontēta, 2003.g. tai uzlikts jauns skārda jumts. 19.gs. 40. gados būvētā altāra retabla centrā Georga Rūdolfa Kāringa 1864.gadā darinātā altārglezna „Golgāta” (restaurēta 1987.g.). Ērģeles 1933.g. būvējis H. Kolbe. Valsts nozīmes arhitektūras piemineklis.
