Types of Grave Maintenance and Prices

There are four types of gravesite cleaning to ensure the neatness and respectful appearance of your loved one's resting place:

If the gravesite has not been maintained for a long time, a general cleaning is necessary to restore its original appearance and tidiness.

How often is grave cleaning needed?

Generally, if a gravesite is maintained and regularly cleaned, four times per season (spring – autumn) is sufficient. However, sometimes circumstances arise that prevent timely maintenance.

How to order a gravesite cleaning service remotely?

You can order a gravesite cleaning service at any cemetery in Latvia by filling out the contact form and specifying the cemetery name and the deceased’s full name.

General Cleaning

We offer professional and thorough gravesite cleaning, ensuring cleanliness and a well-maintained environment throughout the year.

• Area cleaning and weeding
• Deep weeding with root removal
• Ground leveling
• Addition of sand, black soil, and mulch
• Refreshing and replacing surface coverings
• Blowing off granite gravel with a leaf blower
• Washing decorative stones
• Trimming and burying shrubs
• Cleaning of tombstones, frames, borders, and benches
• Transplanting and maintaining perennial plants

How often is general gravesite cleaning needed?

Once a year, if regular cleaning has been done previously, preferably in spring or autumn.

What does the price include?

The service cost includes necessary transport expenses, the use of specialized tools, and cemetery fees.

What is not included in one-time or general cleaning, and what requires additional payment?

These cleaning services do not include reconstruction or renovation work, such as:

• Restoring inscriptions or engravings (painting)
• Recasting or leveling tombstones, grave frames, or borders
• Replacing damaged or missing elements of installed structures
• Replacing sand, gravel, or decorative stones with geotextile installation
• Building or reinforcing retaining walls, fixing steps, etc.
• Removing trees, pruning branches, transplanting plants

For such renovation services, a separate estimate is prepared.

Regular Cleaning

We recommend regular grave maintenance four times during the spring-autumn season to keep the gravesite in proper condition. This service is ideal for those living abroad or unable to care for the site personally.

Spring Cleaning

From early April to the third decade of April

Cleaning and weeding the area, deep weeding with root removal, ground leveling, fresh sand, black soil, and mulch application where needed, surface refreshing, blowing off granite gravel, washing decorative stones, trimming shrubs, cleaning tombstones, frames, borders, benches, transplanting, and caring for perennials.

Summer Cleaning

Twice – May or June & July or August

Raking, weeding, clearing dry branches, needles, and other debris. Optional planting and maintaining summer flowers (additional charge).

Autumn Cleaning

Late October to mid-November (before Remembrance Day)

Raking autumn leaves, general site cleaning, removing overgrown or dried summer plants. Upon request, placing fir branches and lighting candles (additional charge).

How to pay for regular cleaning services?

By signing a regular cleaning contract, payment can be split into two installments.

Payment is made via bank transfer according to the contract and issued invoice.

Clients can request additional summer visits for watering and plant care.

Each extra visit costs €40.00 – €80.00.

One-Time Cleaning

One-Time Autumn Cleaning

Includes raking autumn leaves, general cleaning, removing overgrown or dried summer plants. Upon request, additional services like placing fir branches or lighting candles can be ordered separately.

Gravesite before and after one-time autumn cleaning

10% discount

Clients who have used our gravesite improvement services (new gravesite setup or renovation) in the last two years receive a 10% discount on all cleaning services.
