Dedication to Rothko memorial monument that was created by the artist Romuald Gibovsky, was erected on the picturesque bank of the River Daugava – the source of the brightest impressions of the artist’s childhood. The monument indicates Shossejnaja Street (now 18 Novembra Street), where from 1892 to 1913 the Rothkovitz family lived. Through large, heavy metal forms you can see the creative emptiness of the sky and the river - ever-changing landscape, just like in the classical paintings of Mark Rothko.
